A thunderstorm last night kept me off the ridge. I camped above Nice and left at 7. I picked up supplies in Aspremont where I met an Italian guide called Sergio with some clients. I saw my 1st buzzard and snow! On the mountains in the distance. Off for lunch in Levens.

Ian, must be good to get started on the trail, and your first week away must be just about done. Weather in SW England has been better this week but no blazing sunshine yet. I am trying to get fit for a week in Skye from the 16th June - its hard work.
